Florence Duomo private Tour overview
Explore the religious center of Renaissance City with a local professional tour guide and dive into more than 1000 years of history, visiting the Cathedral and the Baptistery.
We start admiring the Gothic architecture of the Cathedral, enriched by two of the uncontested masterpieces of all times: Giotto’s Bell Tower and Brunelleschi’s Dome. We’ll then skip the line and enter in the huge church to discover the works by Paolo Uccello, analyzing the very first experiments in perspective. You will see a clock going counter-clockwise, where hours are different every day, before getting stunned at the largest fresco ever made. We will visit the ancient crypt, with the remains of the old Cathedral of Florence, Santa Reparata, featuring the tomb of Giovanni de Medici, who lived well before his family became the most important in town, and Filippo Brunelleschi, the master architect.
Once we exit from the Cathedral, we’ll see the beautiful Baptistery, a great example of Florentine romanesque style. Then we’ll enter in the ancient temple, decorated with wonderful mosaics, with works by Donatello and Michelozzo to celebrate the Antipope that allowed the Medici to become the bankers of the Vatican.
Finally, we’ll get into the renovated Opera del Duomo museum, featuring a great room where the original facade of the church has been rebuilt with original sculptures, facing the “Gates of Paradise”, the beautiful Baptistery doors patiently cast in bronze by Lorenzo Ghiberti over the span of 27 years.

How is our Florence Duomo private Tour different?
Private tour
First of all, this is a private Florence Duomo Tour. You won’t join any large or small group of tourists, it’s meant for you, your family and/or your friends. The Florence Tour Guide will be at your service for the duration of the tour, assisting you in buying skip the line tickets for the Duomo and explaining to you whatever you want to know.
A classic but complete tour
Generally a Florence Duomo Tour shows you the Cathedral from outside, with a brief visit inside. This tour explains in detail the architectural wonders outside and goes in depth inside the Duomo, visiting the Crypt and then the Baptistery, giving you a complete coverage of the main building in Florence Italy. Your Duomo tickets remain valid for the next 24 hours and after the tour is finished, you can climb on top of Brunelleschi’s Dome and/or Giotto’s Bell Tower!
Fair price
Is our Florence Duomo Tour expensive for you? Any agency will price a private 3 hours Florence Walking Tour no less than € 400. Here you can hire directly a local genuine Florence Tour Guide, so you save any agency or middlemen fees, which means paying up to 60% less. The tour is certainly expensive if you travel alone, but it’s as low as € 56/person for a family of five: much less than any 3-hour Florence Day Tour offered online and a much better experience than any shared group tour.
